Kauw

This is one of the birds (I think the english name is Jackdaw) not a beauty but very intelligent. Once I had a tame Jackdaw, I took it out of a rabbithole and raised him. He understood several commands and was always with me. Unfortunately he liked people's eyes and that was sometimes annoying. Hmmmm........I hope this english creation is understandable.

Your English translation is awesome...understood you no problem...It doesn't look like a very pretty bird...but beauty is in the eye of the beholder isn't it?

Your english is good, but what do you mean that he liked people's eyes ... did he get too close?

The kauw's in Wassenaar are very noisy in the morning, especially when they sit on the molen.

I am guessing the eyes were something they like. Round and glistening. Nice photograph. I really like the way he is stepping out with the one foot.

I just began a new site about Japan in the early 1950s when we were there. You can get to it from my Brookville daily photo blog. Times have changed a lot there too over the 50-plus years since we were there.

(Dot) The name was "Kaa".
(Neva) Yes you are very right.
(R&R) He pecked into people's eyes because of the glistening.
(Gerard) Ja dat was hem, mijn lieve tamme kauw.

Hi dick,

A jackdaw indeed - not seen any around here but they have a reputation for being thieves and there is an old tradition that a jackdaw down a chimney fortells a death in the house.

No problems at all with your English. I love the pattern of brick or block pavement. It sets off the bird beautifully.
