Church/Monastery

This is another URBan EXploration we did last year in Limburg (thank you Jeannette). Of course we had to go into forbidden territory.

We had to go through a fence and the forest. This is at the backside of the church.

The interior is destroyed by fire

Can you imagine a service here?

This cross is made of strong iron, for this reason it is probably still there. On the way back we found an old road which made it much easier to get out.

Urban Exploration #2 Object #1

The kitchen ceiling

The stairs in the living area, probably a bedroom door but I think there is not much left behind it.
A part of the roof almost falling down, it is not a good idea to go there.

The living room the arch is in the middle and the first level floor is no longer there. It's hard to imagine people lived here doing this we all do, eating, sleeping, watching TV, having a party or sharing sorrows.

In this area the roof has collapsed. I have no idea how long and why this farmhouse is abandoned, probably they were sold out because the expanding city needed the land. How long ago? At least 20 years? Maybe longer.

This is in the barn, you can see the fence in the 2nd picture.

Bathroom window, nothing left inside.

This roof construction is still standing but it won't keep the rain out.

Nature has taken over.

I hope you have enjoyed this exploration, the next in a few weeks, I'm looking forward to see your explorations. lol.
But if you do, don't touch anything and leave it as it is. Respect the rule "Leave nothing but footprints, take nothing but pictures".

Urban Exploration #1 Object #1

This week we spent in Limburg at my daughters place. One of the things we did was "Urban Exploration". Do you know what that is? If not you better click the link and read the WiKi page.
The picture on top shows the first target, it was not so difficult to find an opening in the fence we only had to wait no one was watching us. Let's go!!!!!!!!!!!!

Entering the building.

Me taking a picture, the red light is from my camera but you photographers do know that of course.

This is one of a few things left in the kitchen.

The floor, not safe enough to go upstairs so we didn't.
Would you like to see more?

Eye to eye

Yes this is your "Eye on Texel" photographer together with daughter Astrid. This is in the Afrikamuseum in Limburg not on Texel but elsewhere in the Netherlands. With only Texelfotos I can't continue this blog very long. I finished my Norwayblog the link is in the sidebar (Noorwegen 2007). Today post number 100 and without your support I don't think it would have come this far. Thank you all very much.

Japanse tuin

Reporting from Limburg: Weer even terug naar Mondo Verde.

The oldest signs dated 14th century are concessionsigns. Beside these signs also a large number of drawings occurs, charcoal (see photo) or red red ochre made.

English info: The famouse 'St. Pietersberg' caves are the result of centuries of excavation of marl, a building stone. What we now see is an enormous labyrinth of more than 20,000 passages. The stone-hewers have left their marks. On the walls are interesting inscriptions, some extremely old; artists too, have been at work here. During the many sieges Maastricht has suffered, and also during the last world war, local inhabitants used the passages as a shelter; some of the emergency provisions are still to be seen. The temperature in the caves is 9-10 degrees Celcius; visitors are therefore advised to take a cardigan, pullover or coat with them. The round-trips, which last about an hour, are led by official VVV Tourist Office guides. Two sections of the labyrinths of Mount St. Pieter are open to the public. Source: VVV.
