Butterfly Garden

We visited a butterfly garden and it was a perfect place for trying out my close-up converter. I took a lot of pictures but these are the best. The auto focus is the problem but manual is difficult also.

Super macros! I see we have similar taste :-)

When macros are this close it is hard to have any depth of field as you discovered. It then becomes a choice as to what you want in focus. I like your second and last pictures the best because the focus is on the eyes or the heads. Nice shots.

These are wonderful, especially the first. The composition of that one borders on abstract. Not sure what a, "close up converter" is. Is this what I call diopter lenses (filters) or extension tubes?

Storyteller - the best answer I can give http://www.butterflygardens.com/

Ted - I guess it is a diopter lens, but I'm not sure. I use a Canon a710is (compact camera) and the lens is a 250D.

Nice work Dick. I've been there too and it keeps giving me the creeps all those butterfly's. And the heat inside. Tropical. Therefore my compliments for working under harsh conditions.

Wow! Fantastic Dick, I don't think I've ever seen anything like that outside the National Geographic!

The bottom photo is just fantastic. That gorgeous creature is sending out an invite to you to come and share in their world for a moment. I accept!

Wow ... great shots. Incredible.

I envy your macro-converter. How does it compare price-wise with a dedicated macro lens? My macro-zoom only manages a factor 2,3.

I think I prefer the second one. I like that red "tounge" or whatever it is.

Runee - A macro lens is better but I use a compact camera so the converter is the only thing I can do.
I prefer a compact camera because it is much smaller and lighter than an SLR.
