IJzer-werk

De "IJzeren kaap", een baken dat vroeger gebruikt werd om te navigeren. Dit baken (nu een monument) staat buitendijks omdat de nieuwe dijk de bochten afsnijdt. s'Zomers is het een heerlijke plek om te zitten, op het gras en dichtbij de zee. Zie ook post "De IJzeren kaap".

The "Iron cape", a land-mark which was used in former days to navigate. This land-mark (now a monument) stands outside the dike because the new dike cuts off the corners. On summerdays it is a very nice place to sit, on the grass and near the sea. See also post "De IJzeren kaap".

Great shot! Was this built for a purpose (navigation?) or was it intended to be decorative? Coincidentally, it is a bit like the silo picture I just posted on my own blog (http://rothphotos.blogspot.com), though I had fog instead of clear, blue sky.
