Meeting on the Beach

I had a nice walk on the beach and was turning into the dunes and there I saw this little fellow. As soon as my shadow felt over him his tail went up and he stood still. I had to get my camera real close but he didn't move, thanks for that. The first photo is out of focus but I want you to see it anyway, the other picture is better but it's not a great position. lol.

What is that? It looks like a scorpion! Is it a mierenleeuw? I don't think I ever saw one just the traps they build.

Once early in the evening I saw something I thought was a scorpion at first glance, sitting on the cycle path along the cow pastures. i didn't have my camera but it was a little bit smaller than my hand (a small hand) and I think it was a small fresh water lobster.

Looks like some sort of beetle, probably protecting her egg-sacs. Best to keep your shoes on at that beach! ;-)

Oh poor little guy. I can understand his respect shown for your work, lol:) Besides joking, I love animal kingdom, and real lessons there in, nature and these creatures.
Very nice zoom-zoom! I want to buy a new professional camera like yours:)

I've never seen one of them. It's kind of creepy and beautiful at the same time.

It's always fun when animals pose, and I know how hard it can be to catch those micro insect shots. A ratio of 1 good one out of ten is doing well. Yes, it would have been great if you could have combined these two, but well worth sharing. Like others, I wonder what this little guy is and if he stings or just threatens in case you think he might be tasty.

I wonder what his language is? Chemical smells or does he talk with or without vocal chords. I like the idea of those white things and I bet they mean something sinister.

heh Dick,

Isn't that a schorpion?(schorpioen?) I never saw one in reallity, I followed the (daily) Tv news with groeing interest, you on TEXEL have a white snow-owl, did you see him/her?

My impressions on water were great too, come and see, thank you for your birthday wishes...

One never knows what can be found at the dunes, eh Dick?

This little guy knows very well how to take care of himself! (what a temper, hahaha).

Very cool pics, Dick. I love the details and the texture of the sand. And also those little white spots on his tail!

Dick: What a neat set of photos you have taken. That beetle is a neat capture and I enjoyed my trip here. Thanks for the visit.

Nice critter on the beach of Texel? I think I will never be seen there again. Maybe this is the same type of insect that bit Martin and which gave him a purple leg and a lot of misery?
