Terracotta Army

In Assen, not far from our holiday cottage was an exhibition of the Chinese Terracotta Army. 10 of the 8000 warriors were here, all faces of the 8000 warriors are different. Originally the terracotta was colored, see the small pictures left and right. The pictures are not of very good quality because it was to dark, no flash allowed. Click the photo for a better view.

I watched a program on the Discovery TV channel the other day in which it shows these figures and this army. I find it remarkable that such an army existed and that the maidens and harem girls were buried with the master.

I think they are creepy looking but after reading Abe's comment I think I'll go see what I can find on Google.
Got the post card yesterday. Thanks so much!

They featured them at the Olympic opening ceremony...humans of course.Good photos.

They must have been so brightly coloured when first done ... but the fading of the colour over time has given them a lifelike wisdom. The backgrounds stand out in the photos ... a great backdrop I think.

Indrukwekkend, dat ze dat ooit gemaakt hebben. Ik denk trouwens dat met flits, de fotos veel minder mooi geworden zouden zijn.

They are really very good but I think they look a bit spooky. I would like to learn more about them. I'll have to read up on it.

Hello Dick,

Very impressive. You're a lucky man, Dick. To have seen history with your own eyes. And the pictures are not so bad.

I think such pictures are best without a flash - and you did a good job.

PS I prefer such soldiers...

Dick, I'm sorry that I misunderstood.

To be honest I haven't the foggiest but my daughter downloads things on her mp player all the time. I am seeing her next week and shall ask her all about it and then let you know.
