Oh that is very good construction techniques. Mortise joints. I don't see any tenons but I do see long nails. The rafters seem like trees or limbs and not dressed timbers. How do they get a flat roof on that since the rafters are not straight?

The photography is very nice. I love raw wood construction and used to build things myself with only a saw, hammer, square and level. No power tools. But that was fifty years ago.

Wow, that is some building. I have helped put up trusses before but not like that. Very impressive!
When I saw the post name of Schapenboet, it stood out for me because my grandma & grandpa were from Holland and their name was Schaper.

Now that I have seen the construction for the sheepbarn I want to see the sheep. Not just one black sheep but a herd (Are they called herd?) of sheep.

That is quite the roof.

It is very interesting to see the mix of timbers used. I think the sheep will be very well protected.

I know nothing about building barns but I like the picture. Just give me blue sky and I'm happy!
Is this the one your brothers are building?

(abe) I don't know the answers to you questions now but I'll go back later and show more detailed pictures about this barn.

(happyone)So you are a little bit Dutch, how nice. There are many people with that name in the NL.

(Andrea) I think a "herd of sheep" is OK. I shall search for a nice photo.

(Dot) Yes thats the one.

(Amrita) I'll keep you informed

it is uncanny, you seem to like all the same stuff as me, swans, buildings, aeroplanes, photography, extreme close-ups ... so glad i joined Skywatch Friday and came across your blog, I'll be back! (it surprises me how much of your Dutch I am able to understand, through knowing a little Afrikaans. They are very similar.
