Lifeless trees

I took this photo the last day of 2008, the water is frozen but we didn't get snow.
I wonder if these trees will ever be green again.

I wonder if there are any ghosts lingering about?

I'm sure they will be green again and sooner than you think. What a fantastic mood setting picture. That is my favourite so far ... very eerie!

I hope this picture doesn't reflect your mood.
Yes, you will see green again on those trees. You will hear birds singing and feel the warm sunshine on your back and the sand squishing between your toes and hear the waves flapping on the beach.

I like the photo. Het ziet er uit als een mangrove, ik wist niet dat we die in Nederland ook hebben!

Perhaps it is hard for us to see the big picture in most situations..
Because I was wondering why God would design the universe to have such suffering, have you even been to think in this question Dirk? Why there is so much suffering built into nature --like these trees, why?
Personally, when I arrive my late 20's, say 30's I understood:) As we grow and learn we see more of the big picture and then understand the purpose more.
In my opinion, evolution can explain a lot of your question and others on that way. It seems that nature is involved with never ending progress, and I know these trees will be back in life in a way b'cuz of the synergy in nature. I'm certain:)
Green days soon, wait for the spring. And I look fwd to see a lovely 'green' photo of this corner, make your note:)

You know I share your love for such haunted and haunting trees. At first I thought this was a monochrome and then noted the bit of green in the foreground. I especially like the way my eye is slowly drawn through the screen of leaning trees to the distant fog.

With temps around 0 degree F., no photos for me today.

Knowing how nature works, I suspect these trees may produce greenery when temperatures rise and Spring arrives ... but this is a haunting photo currently.
Hugs and blessings,

Happyone - I didn't see any.

Aggie - I hope they will be green again.

Dot - Especially for the english readers I've added an extra weather pixie.
I'm glad you like it.
((hug)) hh

Thyme - nee dat hebben we ook niet en dit lijkt misschien wel een bos maar eigenlijk zijn het maar een paar bomen.

Nihal - "Dirk" has to think it over, haha,

Thank you all for your nice comments.

Hope is the last thing to lose, Dick, so maybe there's a chance for these forezen trees. Mother nature is wise -if humans don't mix, LOL-

I'm used to hoping: life is teaching me that nothing is impossible. ;)

A fascinating subject. Reminds of some of the paintings made by the 19th century Norwegian painter Lars Hertervig.

Prachtige opname Dick. Een beetje angstaanjagend. Misschien blijft dit slechts van de aarde over, als we doorgaan op de manier die op je vorige post te zien is.

Wow, beautiful picture. It does look cold. We had snow flurries last night but it was just that, a few flurries. I want snow for my 5 year old grandson to play in.

I think I am back to blogging, for today anyway. I will try to do better on posting. I have just been so busy.

This looks like a scene out of Lord of the Rings!

Is this your first post for WW? What a way to make an entrance. This is so stunning in all its mysterious and haunting ways. Could be a scene from some horror movie. What an interesting spot and stunning photography.

A wonderful picture of wild nature. I'm quite sure they will be green next spring, at least most of them. It's almost a b/w photo, typical for winter. Heel moie.
