Happy New Year

Happy New Year to you all. Thanks for your visits and comments, I appreciate it very much. A year ago I started this blog trying to find out how it works, but now it has become a part of my life. I hope to continue in 2008 and visit your blogs as much as I can.

On the 12th of December it is "Old Sinterklaas", a local event. People go out on the street and make a satire, mostly about local politics.

De molen van "Het Noorden" gezien in sylhouette. Gebouwd in 1878 voor f. 31.692,50 en gerestaureerd in 1973-74. De molen pompte het water uit deze polder en wordt soms nog gebruikt. Elektrische pompen hebben het werk over genomen.

Het is nog steeds volop herfst dus één blaadje kan er nog wel bij. Ik vond deze wel bijzonder omdat je tussen het groen en rood het proces bijna kan zien.

It is still autumn therefore one leaf more is OK. I thought this one was special because between the red and the green part you can almost see the process.

"Wild life" ???????

Deze koeien (Schotse hooglanders, ja ik heb ze daar gezien) lopen in de Texelse duinen. Meestal zoek ik een andere weg als ik ze tegen kom, volgens mij zijn ze niet echt betrouwbaar.

These cows (Scottish highlanders, yes I have seen them there) live in the Texel dune area. When they are on my path I go another way, I think they are not very reliable. From origin they don't belong here. For more information about "Texelse duinen" click here.

A hard life

Deze bomen in de duinen tussen het Hoornderslag en Jan Ayeslag werden gevormd door de altijd aanwezige zeewind.

These trees in the dunes between Den Hoorn and Jan Ayeslag were formed by the always present sea wind.

Niets bijzonders maar kijk onderaan op het snelheidsbord. Een Eendenfamilie stak hier elke dag een paar keer de weg over vandaar dit teken.

Not perfect

Voor de eerste paddestoelfoto heb ik deze gekozen. Ze zijn niet perfect gevormd en daarom vind ik het wel een leuke foto, is weer eens wat anders.

Dit is de enige vlinder die ik gefotografeerd heb dit jaar, ik heb er ook niet veel gezien.

I like Dot's "Sky Watch Friday" idea and this Friday I join. A Spitfire Mark IX which was present at the Texel airshow this year. Engine: Rolls Royce Merlin 224 - 1720 HP.

In een museum in Friesland zag ik deze camera. Het label zegt USA 1957-1962 maar op de camera staat "MADE IN ENGLAND". Heeft iemand van jullie ooit zo'n camera gehad?

Reflections on sand

Het was bijna zomer dit weekend en zo kon ik nog wat foto's maken op het strand. Zoals deze nietsvermoedende wandelaar. We zijn een paar dagen naar "Friesland" en dus geen internet denk ik, zie jullie weer op Donderdag.

It was almost summer this weekend and I took some pictures of the beach. Such as this unsuspecting walker. We go to "Friesland" for a couple of days and therefore no Internet I think, see you on Thursday.
